Meeting Minutes for March 13, 2008
Present at the Meeting:
Bob Griffin, Stiney Vondehaar, Catherine Hartman, Jim Bothe, and Jim Owens
Topics Discussed:
· Stiney welcomed as new council representative to committee.
· Reviewed meeting minutes from November 8, 2007.
· Spring Volunteer Day set for May 10th, 9:00am-noon, May 17th backup date.
o Catherine to provide poster for recreation lobby.
o Jim Owens to contact Lynne for newsletter announcement.
o Refreshments to be provided.
o Work list to include trail maintenance, honeysuckle removal, drainage maintenance, some downed tree removal, trash pickup, and fun.
· Bo said that he will try his best to get the signboard Lexan covers installed.
· Bo to review wildflower maintenance with Dayton company prior to ordering this year’s seed.
· Committee still excited about the 2 existing Boy Scout projects (Bird Blind and Tree Identification). No new projects identified.
· Preserve history documentation might be available for review at next meeting.
· Special rental honeysuckle tool that was recently used at the Gorman Farm discussed for use at Griffin Preserve. Decided that further evaluation was needed before committing to use. If used, may share rental with Gorman Farm.
· Stiney mentioned that Griffin Preserve volunteer might attend Rec commission meeting to help with formation of community trail map included in Master Plan.
Action Items:
· Continue planning Spring Volunteer Day.
· Service Department to install Lexan covers to signboard.
· Service Department to review wildflower meadow with outside resource.
· Follow up on Boy Scout projects.
· Catherine and Bob document history for signboard posting.
· Decide if Bobcat honeysuckle removal tool should be used.
